Culture: what is culture and why do we study it, tylor proposed that cultures are systems of human behavior and thought and that they obey natural laws so they can be studied scientifically. Enculturation- process by which a child learns his/ her culture. Acculturation- the process by which a person learns a culture other than their own: definitions of culture. Ralph linton (1936)- the sum of total ideas, conditioned emotional responses and patterns of habitual behavior acquired through instruction or imitation and shared to a greater or less degree .
