Individual mobility (deflection: if you can defect from your group, this would solve your problem, leaving low status group for a high status group, not everyone can leave their groups e. g. race, one thing that would happen before you leave your group is that you disidentify from the group, recall low status group in s&b (1987) (cid:224) disidentification, ellemers et al. (1988) on effects of mobility, what if deflection isn"t possible or desired, social creativity, changing your perceived status by not going with the status quo in some way, rosenberg & simmons (1972) on comparison targets. Social identities threatened when they believe their high statuses could be taken away: scheepers & ellemners (2005, iv: low status ( detailed group faster than holistic group ) vs, high status ( holistic group faster than detailed group , dv: blood pressure at baseline, after group status feedback, before second, dv: group identification.
