Israel captures west bank, e. jerusalem, gaza (& sinai) Intifada: 1987 : first intifada (uprising, 1993 : oslo peace process established by bush. Recognition of israel"s right to exist in exchange for withdrawal of occupation of. Second intifada: both states can see the same image, kid throwing a rock at a tank, and interpret it differently. One sees it as the kid having courage, hating the occupation so much that he"s willing to risk his life.
