For natives, description of animal life is tied to riddles (ex. Flies up, ringing a bell; is a mosquito) Our relation to animals are pertly sturctured thru language. Three ways to regard the animal: to anthropomorphize, to objectify, classify them, regard animal as alive In ecosystem sciences, it usually exclude livestock and pets. Today is more informed by conservation studies and ecosystem sciences. There are two lens of looking at wildlife. Four factors of urbanization and wildlife: direct impact of urbanization - loss of habitat ex. , how various species adjust to urban landscape ex. , intro of exotic species ex, landscape patterns resulting from urbanization, synurbanization. Core reserves = landscapes where conservation is main focus. Corridors = landscapes that connect diffierent conservation areas. Buffers = other open spaces, not directly used for conservation ex. Looks at the values people invest in nature/ wildlife. Human values shape encounters with urban wildlife.
