Document Summary

Community interactions are classified by whether they help, harm ,or have no effect on the species involved. Interspecific interactions - interactions with individuals of other species in the community. Interspecific competition - /- interaction that happens when different species fight for the same resources. Two species competing for the same limited resources cannot coexist permanently in the same place. Competitive exclusion - when the more fit species drives out another species. Ecological niche- some of a species use of the biotic and abiotic resources in its environment . Resource partitioning - different niches in species allow them too co exist. When populations aren"t competing with each other, its easier for allopatric populations to have similar niches than sympatric, because they don"t have to change their behavior (resource partitioning) to survive. Prey- adaptations to escape: hiding , fleeing, her formation, sometime self defense , alarm call. Batesian mimicry- harmless species pretends to be a harmful one.
