Document Summary

The purpose of our experiment was to become familiar with the light spectrum and to use known spectra to calibrate a spectrometer. The spectrometer was calibrated, and while looking at different light objects data was collected. For blue light data ranged from 510 nm (nanometer) 560 nm. Green light data was 570 nm 660 nm. Data for yellow light was 640 nm 660 nm. Red light data was around 700 nm 790 nm. All these values are observed; these values had to be corrected by using the equation attained from spectrometer calibration: y=1. 0652x +26. 071 . The results show that it is possible to use known spectra to calibrate a spectrometer. Also, the goal of becoming familiarized with the light spectrum was accomplished. Clearly the wavelength values given above are the corrected values. After correcting the values with the formula the values become even larger.
