Document Summary
The belief that a medication will work (psychological) affects the body in ways similar to those of medications, or treatments, with known biological effects (biological). Daily hassles: small day to day irritations and annoyances (e. g. , driving in traffic, dealing with difficult people) Chronic stress has been associated with memory impairments cause when cortisol damages neurons in brain areas including the hippocampus, which is the primary structure for memory. In the alarm stage, an emergency reaction that prepares the body to fight or flee, physiological responses are aimed at boosting physical abilities while reducing activities that make the organism vulnerable to infection after injury. Over the long term, they are associated with problems such as increased blood pressure, cardiac disease, diabetes, declining sexual interest, and dwarfism (caused by the suppression of growth hormones) Stress and negative emotions (hostility) can lead to unhealthy behaviours (e. g. , smoking, overeating), and direct wear and tear on the heart.
