Germans resented their treatment by the treaty of versailles (1919) after losing first world war (1914-1918) Rise of school of german geopolitik during the 1920s (ratzel) Encompass the german population that are dispersed throughout europe. Why not expand the german land to incorporate german-ethnic people.
