The persians from 472 bc from ancient greece, oldest surviving play. Greeks didn"t nven theatre, just have earliest written plays. Description of the abydos passion play from ancient egypt from 1868 bc. Art 20 000 30 000 years ago. Theatre doesn"t require theatre building, props, costums, scenography, ect. Passes on stories, histories and myths from generations past. When the storyteller begins to initiate the characters in the story, the simplest theatre is born. Beating the bounds - traditional british ceremony = x. Parishers literally beat the boundaries of their parish with sticks to beat the devil out of parish every year. Theatre is supposed to require 2 groups: audience and preformers, while beating the bounds has no audience. Usually in theatre there is pretending to do something, not actually removing someone"s heart. To become a man in tierra del fuego, you have to spend a night all by yourself in the woods.
