Document Summary
Perceptual consistency is a product of logic and our learning of the world. Example of rats who learned to jump. Learning: (pg 236) is a relatively permanent change in behaviour or behavioural potential due to experience. Often times we learn from experience (grounding children, studying more to get better grades) Absence of behaviour can also be due to learning. It is possible for learning to take place without a change taking place. Imprinting: it designates the process of rapid development social attachment of animals to their mothers. E. g. of ducklings when the hatch the first 13 hours of age their following response appears, innate following response as a product of maturation. The first creature they see during this critical period (doesn"t always have to be birth mother). The suckling reflex on human babies is innate and develops by the 7th month of gestation. Expand on physical and chemical alteration of the nervous system.
