These are generally preferred over self report methods: often these results don"t coordinate well with self report, often we take both, observation, direct or indirect, e. g. class attendance, often used in group situations and not for individuals. Sources of self efficacy: past performance accomplishments, an individual"s perception of degree of success, having previously engaged in similar activities, vicarious experiences, modeling and imagery, social persuasion, verbal and nonverbal tactics, physiological/affective states, feelings of pain or fatigue; positive and negative emotions. Behavioural economic theory: make highly reinforcing sedentary activities less attractive e. g. , comparing sedentary behaviours with being active many sedentary behaviours are appealing to others use this to make these behaviours less attractive it will encourage physical activity integrates stimulus response theory and basic research on cognitive psychology and decision making a way to help people make healthy choices about how they spend their leisure time e. g. , sedentary activity (video games) vs. going outside and playing with friends.
