Document Summary

The problem of evil questions whether the existence of god or an absolute higher power is plausible while there is evil and suffering present within the world. Within most religious bodies god and other deities are collectively described as being omnipotent; all powerful, omniscient; all knowing and benevolent; all good. With such characteristics in mind, one would envision the world as a place free of suffering, have and evil. With such an all-loving god with solely good morals, such immense power and knowledge; one would believe the world to be a type of heaven on earth . However, with simple observation this is not the case, unimaginable suffering is present without much cease in in prospective view. Incurable disease, famine, poverty and everyday misfortune plague the world with little end in sight. The problem of evil presents the following argument: if an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent god exists, then evil does not, there is evil in the world.
