Document Summary

Ribosomes translate mrna on the outside of the er. Proteins do not directly go to the golgi complex. Membrane protein follows similar path, but remain in membrane. Proteins that belong in golgi would stop at golgi. Some go in reverse order: all of the proteins are translated by ribosomes on the outside of the er membrane, rough er is the insert point, all interconnected. Rough er are making protein of the endomembrane system. Cytosolic proteins made in cytosol will never be chemically modified and will remain there. Exocytosis and endocytosis vesicles are responsible for transporting materials between compartments of the endomembrane system also used for secretion to cell exterior, and bringing molecules into the cell vesicles have to be generated have to be made. Exocytosis: a secretory vesicle fuses with the plasma membrane, releasing the vesicle contents to the cell exterior. The vesicle membrane becomes part of the plasma membrane.
