The children are veracious readers, both of children"s literature and adult literature. Their favourite is kipling (author of jungle book) facilitates friendship with mrs. leslie. No firm boundary between children"s literature and adult literature (or adulthood/childhood) They interpret the world based on what they have read. Humor comes from when what they"ve read doesn"t reflect real life and it causes them to make mistakes. Albert is not accepted because he does not read much. Means he doesn"t know how to play properly because he has no imagination. Albert"s uncle teaches them how to incorporate vocabulary from books into their play.
