This laboratory introduces you to the microsoft excel spreadsheet. In order to complete this lab in 3 hours it is necessary for you to have a clear idea of your objectives. This lab will introduce a number of different spreadsheet models that you will modify in some way. In each case you will need to understand certain principles demonstrated by the models. You will also be led step by step through the development of a new excel spreadsheet. It will not be enough for you to just follow the steps". In the first part you will see some prepared spreadsheet models which illustrate the fundamental ideas of a spreadsheet and the range of uses to which it can be put. In the second part you will develop a simple spreadsheet model yourself. Refer to the section on launching applications in chapter 0. A window resembling figure 1. 1 should appear after excel has launched.
