Conscious experience of emotion results from one"s perception of autonomic arousal: emotions occur as a result of different patterns of autonomic activation. Cannon-bard theory: theory emotions originate in a subcortical structure in the brain. They thought it was the thalamus: simultaneously sends signals to both the cortex and the autonomic nervous system.
