Something positive about science are: methods of thinking /useful knowledge, gain clarity know the consequences of action, science gives people the clarity of options. Life of durkheim: a son of a rabi, he was once under catholic school, at some point (age 13) he had a moment of clarity and abandoned all his religious study. The question of morality: why do we have rules that we have to follow durkheim. A person who can do everything vs. a person who only knows one thing but knows that thing perfectly, contributing their part to the whole; Durkheim see a tilt to the second person. Not civilization not to make us richer, more comfortable, not to make us enriched with different culture, it may lead to those results, but not the function; civilization is not necessarily something broadly shared by everyone; Not because crime harms society, in fact the crimes that disrupts the society the most are not punished the worst.
