Research studies in abnrm child psychology seek to: Never hug & kiss chldr i: little albert: prediction & control on human behavior. Progressive legislation: idea (individuals with disabilities education act), free & appropriate public edu for chldr with special needs in the least restrictive envir, each child must be assessed with culturally appropriate tests c. Individualized education program (iep) for each child: united nations general assembly (2007) adopted a new convention to protect the rights of persons with disabilities. Attachment to caregiver, lang, differentiaon of self from envir, self-ctrl & compliance. School adjustment, academic achievmt, getting along w/ peers, social rules & conduct. Poverty & socioeconomic disadvantage: 1/5 in us, 1/7 canada natives & africans impairs learning, nutrition, indirectly impairs chldr"s adjustment, basically bad for everything. Culture: values, beliefs, & practices that characterize a particular ethnocultural group, contribute to dvlpmt & expression of chldr"s disorders, affect how people/institutions react to chldr"s problems, affect how problems are expressed.
