Stress: stressful events are called stressors of different intensities and time lengths, sitting in traffic, bad relationships, job interviews, death in a family. Can also be positive events new baby, marriage, moving, etc: perception affects the degree of stress experienced. When an organism perceives threat: organism is mobilized to attack the threat or to flee from the threat, large personal resource bubble sufficient to meet. Personal resources demands: low stress: small personal resource bubble not sufficient to meet. Personal resources demands: high stress; isolated individuals, mental patients, low material resources. Criticisms of the stress model: limited role given to psychological factors, responses to stress are influenced by individual difference, perceptions, and preexisting physical and mental health, stress is assessed as an outcome.
