Looking at the world of visual material that we encounter in our everyday lives: holland gives two kinds of images, one type: commercial or pitch, 2nd type: photograph as document. Appears to be real: holland"s 3 themes, 1: history children representation images. Every individual is surrounded by representations and images which stand as an arrogant assertion of social wealth (1) These are power relationships between the child and adult. Typically, in that power relationship, adults are taking the pictures and children are the objects: 3: ongoing presence of the past and its current influence on the present. Levey & leguin research/children: ethnography: vocabulary and practice, adult researcher/child research subject, adult gaze, presence of children as subjects , wedges and collaborators . Instead of seeing young people as passive or defenceless, we are moving where we want to see young people as agents.
