In cancer the cells don"t die and instead they continue to multiply. They begin to become notice if they are large. C: cancer cells moving from one place to another go to the blood and infiltrate that part of the body as well. Your risk from dying from cancer will be more. Hence it is important find out cancer exists before it gets to this stage: cancer cells: don"t die when they are supposed to, don"t stick together well and don"t specialize into mature cells. Fix mutations within the cell before they have a chance to be passed on via cell division before the mutation divides and passes on. First line of defence: tumor suppressor genes: brakes. Stop cell growth and control cell death (apoptosis) stop the tumour growth- reduce cell proliferation. 50% of cancers believed to be related missing/damaged tumor suppressor genes: oncogenes: gas pedal. Accelerate cell growth and encourage cell proliferation.
