Dopamine cells in the nucleus accumbens receive input from dopamine fibers which form the mesolimbic dopamine pathway, mediates spcyhotic behaviour ie schizophrenia the overactivatino of dopamine neurons in this pathway produces hallucinations which are controlled using dopamine blocking drugs.
