Is a vector (magnitude and direction: causes or attempts to cause a change in the motion of a body, measured in newtons (n) = mass (kg) x acceleration (m/s) Acts on the centre of gravity (vector points down) External forces include gravity, ground reaction force, and friction (horizontal ground reaction force) When you walk, you exert a force forward (horizontally) and friction causes an opposite force backward so you can propel forward. If however, there is less friction (on ice) then you keep sliding forward (no ground reaction force) Net force refers to the force resulting from adding two or more vectors.
