Thoracic cavity: pleural sac and pericardial sac. Respiratory system, circulatory system, nervous system and endocrine system, musculoskeletal system, reproductive system, urinary system and digestive system, integumentary system. Oxygen hast through the membrane, go through plasma and the interstitial fluid, and to the intracellular fluid: too much fluid in the interstitial fluid can result in swelling. Plasma and interstitial fluid are extracellular fluid. Plasma and interstitial fluid is divided by a capillary wall. Interstitial fluid and intercellular fluid is divided by cell membrane. Specialized cell types held together by cell junctions. Connection between cells or between cells and ecm via membrane-spanning proteins: cell adhesion molecules. Gap junctions: allow substances to pass between cells. Anchoring junctions: hold cells to each other or to ecm. Epithelium (linings) can be leaky or tight: can be specialized for exchange, transport, protection, secretion, hollow organs that have lumen are lined up with epitheliums.
