PSY311H5 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: These Kids, Sperm Donation, 6 Years
Document Summary
Interrelated concepts as socialization takes place largely by parents within the context of the family. Some may argue that the relationships may also be another subsystem (i. e. , the relationship between children). Nuclear families: most part are considered families mom and dad (male and female) married to each other and live with only their biological children. Traditional families: like nuclear families; but their roles are traditional mom stays home and does housework, whereas dads go to work and make money. Families can change for many different reasons: if either mom or dad passes away. The spouse may get remarried and perhaps have a new blended family. Or if parents get divorced and both got married to people who were also married prior: adoption, having same sex parent, foster families or teenage pregnancy. More and more it is difficult to state what a family consists of. These kids have later marriages and earlier childbearing.
