Democracy can be reversed, paralyzed, interrupted, overthrown, etc. in face of economic crisis: greece, us, france, india. Must be compromise: people have to agree to disagree with their opponents in some areas. Must have a highly sophisticated economy to be a democracy. Crisis of leadership can make way for democracy e. g. , spain had an authoritarian regime until 1975: crisis made an opening for the building of democracy, and eventually elections were held that lead to a more open system. Solidarity won the elections for parliament and eventually presidency.
