HLTHAGE 1AA3 Lecture Notes - Pension, Socialized Medicine
Document Summary
How do we socially construct our reality, this is the social structure in canada - 6 point star model, example of tony and fisal: poorer people will have more health problems and die earlier and richer people would be better of. With the safety nest we have a relatively stable set of social relations. These things give us a sense of security, belonging etc. Canadians because we see collective rights and are all entitled to all of these things all of the time. With all these safety nests we are assured that we can lead a decent life. We seek to provide people with basic necessities of life: food, clothing and shelter. Safety nests are there to provide people with at least a minimum standard of life: the social structure (way in which we educate, treat families, exercise politics etc. ) actually speaks to having power over life/death.
