According to arnold davidson perversion, as a disease, and the pervert as a diseased person created in late 19th century. This is what hacking refers to as making up people . Social change creates new categories of people but counting/categorizing creates new ways for people to be. People spontaneously came to fit their categories . Foucault - naming is only one element in what is the constitution of subjects . Hacking states that many categories come from nature, not from the human mind, and these categories are not static. Our classifications and our classes conspire to emerge hand in hand, each egging the other on. I know not which came first, the thought or the mitten, but they have evolved hand in hand. My claim about making up people is that in a few interesting respects multiple personalities (and much else) are more like gloves than like horses. The category and the people in it emerged hand in hand. (209)
