Anthro. is not conductive from the armchair; we arrive there by being there. Anthropology takes the uncanny and makes it pop-up shakes up feelings and realizations. Film is about death - the death in life; and the life that is in death. Danger of exoticizing the other by making another exotic and very different. When you do anthropological research/work one must immerse themselves in the language and culture to understand firsthand by familiarization how do anthropologists come about knowing: anthropological way of knowing is unique. The objects of the study is a subject. In anthropology we are the tools and part of what we learn is seeing how people react to us as persons. We immerse ourselves as subjects, the challenge is becoming aware of this and utilizing this in order to learn. Anthropology is a science because it is empirical. Comes from in-depth experience from the world.
