Note: allelic exclusion also prevents production of the other light chain. When a successful light-chain rearrangement occurs, the gene is transcribed and a complete. 5 x 107 immature b cells are produced each day, but only 10% (5 x 106) actually make it into the recirculating b cell pool. The other 90% of immature b cells die (about 45 x 106) in the bone marrow. Anergy soluble self molecule, cannot respond well due to low levels of bcr. Ignorance low-affinity non-cross-linking self molecule, clonally ignorant. Receptor editing autoreactive bcr taken down new light chain.
