The field has been revolutionized by constructivism: 1970"s, position completely different, foucault, sexuality based on social and cultural moldings, influenced by society, not a natural given, power tries to keep it in check, historical construct, about why sexuality so important part of our beings. 3 narratives of dominant change: 1) progressive sexual change over last 30 years result of interaction and knowledge sexual freedom can be achieved through legislative change, 2) declinist moral panic, change too fast divorce negative sexual promiscuity shamed, 3) continuity not much has changed no change in the underlying structure of power and how sex is regulated.
