Document Summary
It seemed a necessary conclusion from these results that cells and fibers of the brain and cord must carry some kind of individual identification tags, presumably cytochemical in nature, by which they are distinguished one from another almost, in many regions, to the level of the single neuron; and further, that the growing fibers are extremely particular when it comes to establishing synaptic connections, each axon linking only w certain neurons to which it becomes selectively attached by specific chemical affinities. Important concept list: both top down & bottom up processes contribute to visual, computations in the visual system (and ns system in general) take place thru serial & parallel processing, the visual system detects and acts upon past and present envt"al perception correlations, the visual system simultaneously maintains/updates/computes multiple spatial reference frames that can be used to generate action.
