Shift from news reporting to news as mixture of reporting and drama/entertainment that will capture and keep attention. Enjoyable, more dramatic, emotional and involved experience. What is considered newsworthy changes in order to sell the news. Very little journalism involved, don"t provide research to establish context, its uncomplicated. Are comedy shows about the news that are the only ones that can provide some degree of "truth" about the world. Some ppl no longer take news seriously. Maybe not taking it seriously can get a better perspective on the media and its role in society. In can and usa, highly concentrated ownership of mass media companies. Hollywood movies and us cultural products dominating domestic foreign markets. The reduced capacity of local cultural producers to compete with the giants. Its harder to have homegrown producers and cultural identity in light of this - so diversity is decreasing. Its more difficult for domestic cultural producers to compete against.
