This definition has two parts that are worth mentioning: first, cognition is the action of knowing, which implies the ways in which we become acquainted with things and second, cognition can be seen as a faculty. Intuition: these are the sudden flashes of insight we sometimes have that give us the answers to questions: personal acquaintance: we use cognition to interact and understand the people in our lives, recognition: this is a fundamental process in perception and cognition; it literally means, to know again , skill: it often means applying a reasoned approach to solving a problem, understanding: this concept is basic to cognition and has many facets; it is involved in various components of our everyday lives. Miller observed that a good way of increasing a person"s vocabulary with respect to a particular subject is to provide information about the relations between the words that are characteristic of that area, which is why all the words associated to.
