Document Summary

The percentage sum is more than 100% because at one time, more than one factor is affecting species. Habitat alteration (habitat destruction and introducing pollutants) is the major thing that is causing global biodiversity reduction. Species at higher trophic levels are much harder to catch. So they turned to species at lower trophic level, Bull frog: few native predators, high reproduction interval, and also type of food they can eat, make some of the introduced species more successful in that environment. Scotch broom: high production, they can live in poor soil and disturbed areas. Organisms of higher trophic levels, the resources have to be so much, thus they usually require large area to maintain their survival. Thus they will be disappearing as a result of fragmentation. However when it gets destroyed, there is more edge, and thus they are deep inside the forest. There is more edge for the fragmented habitat.
