Weight increase, skeletal changes, accelerated growth spurt, asynchronicity in growth(uneven growth: eg: hands growth faster than your arm) Growth spurt: rapid growth girls at age 10, boys at age 12. Boys grow 10. 4cm a year and girls 8. 9cm, on average. Some adolescents grow as much as 12 cm in a single year. Girls reach puberty faster but also growth earlier. Observe development of primary and secondary sex characteristics. Changes in body composition: terms of muscle mass and fat. Changes in circulatory and respiratory systems: athletes at their adolescent is at their physical peak. Document 5 stage progression: longitudinal study: examine 5 same adolescent over time. Girls start puberty at around age 11 or 12, and boys begin at around age 13 or 14. A lot of variability and influenced by environment. Although onset of puberty is greatly genetic, despite that, very strong environmental influence. Influencing boys and girls differently: affects girls more than boys.
