Standardize identifying an argument"s component propositions and considering how they relate to one another. In standardizing most arguments, it"s easiest to identify the conclusion first it is either in the first or last sentence. To identify a conclusion, also look for indicator words. Single-sex high schools work better than coeducational high schools because adolescents do better when they aren"t distracted by the presence of the opposite sex. Also, the developmental needs of adolescent boys and girls are divergent. Conclusion = single-sex high schools work better than coeducational high schools. Step 1 write the conclusion at the bottom of the page. Step 2 write the other premises supporting the conclusion above the conclusion.
