Astronomy biology and planetary science geology and atmospheric science make up this study of et life. Views of the universe used to be geocentric ( almost 400 years ago. In reality earth is just a tiny world orbiting one rather ordinary star in a vast cosmos. By learning how planets form we develop an understanding of how common we might expect planets to be. By learning about our system we learn how other stars might be born with planetary systems. The known extrasolar planets now far outnumber the planets of our own solar system so life is possible.
