Document Summary
Human centre of gravity - just anterior to 2nd sacral vertebra. Human bipedalism: biomechanics: humans are the only species who are bipeds using the locomotion, balance is a key problem for bipedialism. We have a small center of gravity that sits on our feet. Iliofemoral ligament (pelvis: cruciates (knee joint, it attaches the illium of the pelvis to the femur of the hip. It sits in the front of the hips. Attaches to the proximal end of the femur: binds femur to ilium, prevents hyperextension. This is how we maintain an upward position: lock knees to prevent upper body & femur from falling forward, when we stand, we are standing with our knees in an extended position (up right). But what prevents us from falling forward: binds the distal end of the femur to the proximal end of the shin bone. This is a huge engery expenditure to maintain this position.
