PSYA01H3 Lecture Notes - Internal Validity, Naturalistic Observation
Document Summary
When it comes to human research there are many rules that will apply. Animals can be put through a lot more pain then humans, due to the ethics involved. Once you"ve finished our experiment you have a bunch of raw numbers that you need to analyze. The norm for body distribution is gaussian distribution. Inferential statistics- looking at two pairs of data or more and saying are they different or are they the same. If its different then we can infer that they work. The larger the observed difference over the expected difference is the more your experiment is actually working. Assume the manipulation is having no effect but if the probability of what i did is really low, then there is an effect. Replicate- different lab converging in the same ways, being able to do things over again to be proven. Peer review process- helps to make your paper better through reviewing what you have done.
