And technology has the power to erase not just geographical borders but also human ones : spread of free markets = democracy, empowers people to participate but the cold war divided the east and west (communism and capitalism) Islamic empire: the world leading economic power: 7-13th centuries, early global economy based on trade across asia, africa and much of europe, islamic global age, like the romans, spread of knowledge, technology, innovation, literature, art, etc. They were also known as the islamic renaissance because of this!
