Studying ethics will improve your ability to make good decisions and to be able to defend your choices. Deontology looks at the actions or means people use to achieve their goals. Character (virtue) ethics looks at the agents or persons who are acting in the situation. Consequentialism (utilitarianism) looks at the ends or goals that are outcomes of actions. Actions (deotology) deon duty or obligation (to follow standards) Evaluates actions based on standards of right and wrong. Standards of human decency, worth, and respect rule out treating others in certain ways (i. e. lying to them, physically harming them) A person of good character demonstrates virtues i. e. fairness, trustworthiness, courage. Focuses on the end result or consequences produced by an action.
