Having tutorials will improve performance on the exam. There will be no difference between the two groups. Compare students that do and do not attend tutorials. After exam: null hypothesis is true or false. This is what we are trying to figure out. We cannot prove if something works or not, just reject or fail to reject the null. We either reject or fail to reject our hypothesis based on data. Should we reject and null hypothesis is true: 5% of the time we will make a type 1 error. 5% we will reject and think we found something. Similar to the situation in probability where there are ifs: Only dealing with the data in the right hand now. Null true and null not true are two mutually exclusive events. We need at least 95% to continue with research - to prove that an event or an observed relationship is. Power: probability of rejecting a false null hypothesis.
