Placebo effect (participant s expectations or how the treatment should affect them causes them to act differently. Ie, if someone gave you an aspirin for a headache and your headache went away, and you told them it was just a sugar pill, the participant believed it will work and it did) Distortions in self-report data ( questionnaire) (response set answer has nothing to do with the question) Can control by making some questions that are definitely true or definitely false or have the same question reworded somewhere else.
