Biochemistry 2280A Lecture : Denaturation
Document Summary
Extreme situations to denature a protein but it depends on which one. Small chemical compounds can cause a protein to denature (in a lab). When they denature you go back to the polypeptide change it will vary to some degree on how extreme the denaturation is. Can go back to original form if your lucky because all the information is still there in the same sequence. The main protein when heated (changing protein severely because it went from clear and liquid to opaque and solid mass) Picture on the right milk sitting out. Use domains from other proteins and copy and paste them into other proteins so that they have a similar function. Proteins share domain and function, even if they aren t identical. Amino acids that are the most critical over time won t change.
