Legal bills, insurance costs: settlements can run into billions, which is the most serious punishment and deterrence, but most is paid by shareholders. Customers can also lose because corporations may have to raise priceless or discontinue products: corporate crime is not really seen as deviant. Legal: what they re supposed to do by the book y y normal: what they do when people aren t looking not by the book but not extremely bad.
