Study of abnormal psychology: study of people that suffer mental, emotional and physical pain, resulting in a psychological or mental disorder (known as psychopathology) 7% of people, 20 or older, were mentally diagnosed in 2004 and accounts 50% of physical billings and results in more use of hospital beds than cancer. Abnormalities may appear different to different people, since the context that a behavior appears in may consider it abnormal or not. Different theorists have defined being abnormal in many ways; perhaps a deviation from society; violating a cultures gender roles or the unusualness of the behavior, discomfort of the person, presence of a mental illness, and maladaptive behaviors.
