First intelligence test was done by sir francis galton he thought that the speed to which you answered questions and do things determines intelligence. Psychologists have concluded that it is not a single though there may be a sense of general intelligence and that there are some specific intelligence. Athletic analogy: michael jordan (basketball player) retired to become a baseball player ppl thought all of his skills in basketball would completely transfer to baseball but in the end his skills could not be generalized. Example of general skill: strong endurance can be generalized to all sports. G = general intelligence; s = specific intelligence. Factor analysis ppl to do a lot of tasks and try to find correlations that group together. What are the factors that would factor into a cohesive family. The factors (categories) that encompass certain correlation is determined later.
