Zone of proximal development- kids cannot develop the skills on their own, but is able to achieve them through social context with some help from parents or teachers. Discovery process benefits from more skilled, more mature people. 2 types of asssisted discovery: scaffolding- provide assistance to help child to master skill, teacher builds support, peer collaboration- group discussion help to solve complex task. 3 characteristics: inattention- difficulty to pay attention for a long time. But is able to pay long attention to things that interest them: hyperactivity- constantly burst out to create stimulation, impulsivity- cannot control body movement.
