Most of them were professional, bureaucratic, military and academic backgrounds. Created rural economic zone => urban people pushed to rural area to farm. External: us trade embargo -> poor economy. Government sponsored a lot of vietnamese refugees, and invited churches and private organizations sponsored some of the vietnamese family to come to canada. Refugees: anxiety and distress reach the country. Pirates in the sea robbed their gold and jewels, food, only some are able to. Didn"t know where some of the family members were => emotional distress. Mental health => some have nightmares for many years about the horrific escaping process.
